Manchester United are on the verge of making a final push to sign Ruben Neves - Barcelona interested & Wolves would like a fee of £50 million.

Five years ago I was a complete novice in this game, but a wealth of knowledge wasn't needed to see something special in Shishkin when he arrived on the scene.
What he went on to achieve is remarkable. Two victories at the Cheltenham Festival, and as many at Aintree. That

Oisin Murphy got 14 months for 'breaking Covid rules' and 'two alcohol breaches'. Soumillon gets a slap on the wrist and special privileges for assaulting a fellow rider at racing speed which could very easily have caused serious injury - or worse. Joke decision.
Bar maybe Ballyburn, who is a Supreme/Ballymore type, is this the best performance from a staying novice hurdler all season?
I think there's still plenty of value in 12/1 about High Class Hero for the Albert Bartlett. Can see him winning the Nathaniel Lacy at the DRF and being
He keeps on winning!
Three victories on the day at
@LimerickRaces
for Willie Mullins as High Class Hero retains his unbeaten record in comfortable fashion in the Rathsallagh Country House Hurdle under Paul Townend.
Sadly, that was an entirely predictable performance from Broadway Boy in the Hampton.
He's only six and that was his 5th run in just over 100 days - two on soft ground at Cheltenham.
Why, especially giving weight to all rivals, was he running? Poor campaigning.

Decisions being made at Closutton this morning?
Mystical Power last matched at 17.0 for the Supreme and 6.6 for the Baring Bingham.
I'd say that makes Ballyburn an absolute certainty to run in the curtain-raiser too.
The overreaction to Brandy Love's defeat is so 'Racing Twitter'. Giving 9lbs to last year's Mares' Hurdle runner-up after a 311-day lay-off, I'm pleased with that performance. Very tenderly handled by Townend late on.
10/1?
My racing highlight of the year has to be watching the gallant grey Gaillard Du Mesnil win the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham, landing a big antepost punt in the most dramatic fashion. Some buzz.
2024 prediction? Ile Atlantique. Ballymore.
Sounds like Willie Mullins remains adamant to keep Facile Vega over two miles - why? He knows best, like, but I'd say he's crying for a step-up in trip. Doesn't jump well enough at all for the minimum.

was returning from a 342-day absence and looks an absolute natural over fences ...
Tommy Fury's attitude is spot on. For someone without much of an amateur career, it's going to take A LOT of learning fights before he's ready to go challenging for titles - yet Twitter warriors expect him to be world champion by now. He has all the time in the world.
I quite like 'influencer' boxing, but with it comes fans who lack knowledge. I had Tommy winning the last four rounds, agreeing with the two judges. That was no robbery.

I know Wan-Bissaka shouldn't have gone to ground like that in the box, but he doesn't even make contact with Elliot.
In fact, Elliot falling over kicks Wan-Bissaka to force a contact. 🤔
Beyond gutted that Shishkin - one of, if not my all-time favourite racehorse - is no longer with us. An incredible talent with the personality to match. He'll be missed 💛🖤
Too early? Never.
Here’s the first of 20 antepost tips over as many weeks leading up to the 2024 Cheltenham Festival.
In anticipation of the imminent stable tours, it’s an exciting novice hurdler who’s first in the book.
@Betfred
@UnitedStandMUFC
How some people are calling it anything but good when we've spent over £100m on Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane - two top class players in positions we desperately needed - is beyond me. Some United fans are mad spoilt.
It's sickening how many fellow United fans would happily welcome Mason Greenwood back. Even if he is found 'not guilty', we've all seen the pictures and heard the audio. He's guilty as sin, and any half-decent United fan would never want him representing our club again.
#MUFC
In the last couple of weeks racing has unfortunately shown its still a boys' club, which is a great shame given how the likes of Rachael Blackmore, and ironically Bryony Frost, have made huge strides for women in the sport. Poor from AP (and yes, he knows what he's doing).
Not saying either horse would have won - Golden Ace was very, very good - but that wasn't Jack Kennedy or Paul Townend's finest rides.
Can't help but feel Jade De Grugy was mightily unlucky.

Sean Graham - racing manager for Tony Bloom - says he is "95% sure" that Ile Atlantique will run in the Baring Bingham at the Cheltenham Festival.

🏇 The latest addition to my 2024 Cheltenham Festival antepost book is yet another potential superstar for Willie Mullins.
I think the market has seriously underestimated this 20/1 shot's hugely-impressive performance recently.
@Betfred
@Sage_eriteta
Why do you say this as if he shouldn't be forgotten, or that it's simply unfortunate he has ended up where he is? It's all his own doing, and who cares that he's been forgotten?
Perhaps this is a slight bit of pocket talk, but I wonder if Mirazur West has been written off a bit too soon.
Here's why...
1. Plenty of Willie's are coming on for the run - significantly, in some cases. Galopin Des Champs did. Ballyburn. Fact To File. Tullyhill probably will.
I suspect this won't be a popular opinion but...
I find it crazy that Lossiemouth is being dubbed the Cheltenham Festival banker because Gala Marceau - a horse whose form ties in very closely with hers - was beaten again at Punchestown this afternoon.
That Triumph Hurdle isn't
@racingblogger
If BMG is going to have any chance of winning the Brown Advisory, he has to win this right? Yes, he has to give a load of weight away, but do you think Galopin Des Champs would struggle to do so?
I am going to be very, very disappointed if Queens Brook doesn't at least go extremely close in the Mares Hurdle tomorrow. She may well be my NAP of the Festival.
🏇 I think there's been an underreaction to one performance in particular from the weekend.
He's my antepost selection on Week 7/20 on the road to the 2024 Cheltenham Festival.
@Betfred
That ride on Chambard absolutely stunk of 'non-trier'. On the bridle the whole way round, never put into the race and only asked a question (I assume just for show) far too late. Stinks the place out that.
I hope Salver's mark doesn't change too much after that easy win at Haydock. He must have an almighty chance in the Boodles - though I'd have preferred him to go straight there off a ridiculously lenient 128.
@RoadCheltenham
As much as I like him, Gerri Colombe. That three-mile novice chase division last season was poor. I'm expecting him to come up short in all the big races.

It's Week 3/20 on my antepost journey to the 2024 Cheltenham Festival - and my third selection is a high-class novice hurdler who I think's gone under the radar.
@Betfred
Obviously yes. Losing one game of football doesn't change that. Judge him over the entire season, not one game. Ole was right when he said trophies aren't the only indicator of progress.

Ten Hag is an absolute genius. What he's done with this United squad in such a short space of time is incredible. I always thought he'd be the perfect replacement for Pep at City - thank God he's ours!

@louisa_compton
@Tyson_Fury
Do you not believe in redemption, then? Do you think people should be criticised for what they once said no matter how they act now?
The fact that Embassy Gardens is half the price of Three Card Brag for the Albert Bartlett with some firms is almost as comical as The Real Whacker being favourite for the Brown Advisory.
One search of 'Thomas Partey' on here is enough to understand why most women never report rape/sexual assault. People scream 'liar' due to a lack of evidence (as if they're entitled to it), but even when there is evidence - case in point Mason Greenwood - they'll defend that too.
✅ Get in! Nine from 11.
Flanking Maneuver (6/4) wins the 2.30 Fairyhouse in good fashion. That's a lovely return to action from Noel Meade's eight-year-old.
It's now eight winners from our last 10 NAP selections.
Taken to extend the run on Saturday is a classy jumper who bids to make a winning return to action at Fairyhouse - and it's fair to say I can't see his price lasting out much longer.
@Betfred
Shame on the BBC for their coverage of that whole incident. Panning to his distraught girlfriend on the touchline? An absolute disgrace. Really, really hope Eriksen pulls through. Horrible scenes 🤞🏻

This idea that we should treat Ronaldo any different to our other players is ridiculous. I don't care how many goals you've scored in your career, you do what your manager says and suck it up.
Not playing Cristiano Ronaldo is one thing and I love ten Hag, but telling him to warm up and then subbing on Elanga instead and leaving him on the bench is disrespectful on so many levels icl
Raheem Sterling has been out of form for months. Shaw and Chilwell have been two of the best left-backs in the world this season. Grealish has been ripping up trees in the build-up. Happy to be proven wrong, but that leaked

🏇 My latest antepost tip for the 2024 Cheltenham Festival is one of this season's 'talking horses' – but not for the race I’ve seen many suggest.
Click 👇 for the 'who' and 'why'.
@Betfred
If Graeme Souness thinks Paul Pogba getting four assists yesterday is 'what a £100m (actually £89m) signing should be doing', how bad of a performance was that from £100m Jack Grealish?!
It looks like Willie Mullins and Cheveley Park have a huge decision to make regarding Sir Gerhard on Monday morning.
If the forecast is right, surely he wants nothing to do with 3m on deep ground on just his second attempt over fences (and first at the trip)?
Salver unchanged (128) but it looks like he won't even be getting an entry in the Boodles. Very disappointing, especially as you'd think they're more likely to get soft ground on the Tuesday than Friday.

Two goals against the league leaders - whose fans and the media would make you believe are the best thing since sliced bread - and two assists, playing a big part in two wins... how is that not deserved? 😆
