Senator Watt confirms it was a captain’s call from the government to intervene into the independent conduct of the ABS. Census prep was fully funded, and the new topics included a question exploring housing securing and cost-of-living. This was political.

Great graph in presentation by Ian Shuttleworth at #ICPG2024 - red line is knowledge (Northern Ireland census) of Irish by age - peak is at school ages - blue line is knowledge of Ulster Scots: peak is at 68. Peak for US stays at same age from 2011 to 2021 hence not cohort
