Reddit post by someone who mistakenly watched the D&D movie with descriptive audio for visually impaired people on, thought it was an artistic choice to have a DM narrating the story since it was a D&D movie, and ended up liking it a lot
You know what really fucks me up? That the poster for Robocop is a painting (by the very talented Mike Bryan), and not a photo, as i believed it was for 30 years
In Super Mario Odyssey, Mario briefly appears inordinately angry or annoyed every time he has to climb a ledge. This is usually hidden from the player due to the camera normally seeing Mario from behind when he climbs a ledge, but can be seen in Snapshot Mode.
Exceedingly rare screenshot of the SNES prototype of RE2. Made as a spec project by Ballz 3D developer PF Magic, they hoped to convince Capcom to let them port the game to the aging system, as their orb based pseudo-3d character system negated the need for a costly Super FX chip.
Another fun fact: The Japanese editions of GRR Martin's A song of ice and Fire books have covers by Yasushi Suzuki, who was also the lead artist on legendary N64 shooter Sin and punishment
Early Zelda illustrations by Macross character designer Haruhiko Mikimoto, drawn for the Japanese games magazine Newtype in 1986. I think they're cool!
i love that bit in older 3d games where they texture a flat geometry slope just right with ambiguous baked shadows so that it almost seems to have actual steps
Just so you know, this was indeed 100% an April Fools gag. I'm glad it resonated with so many people though, thanks to everyone who played along with the joke! Anyway, here's some video footage of it in action:

Glad Koizumi is the new face of nintendo, i have real respect for him.
Fun fact, he wrote the story and designed most of the villager interactions for Link's Awakening after initially only having been tasked with designing the manual

hadd a weird idea, what if they'd rendered mario in Super Mario 64 an a bunch of circular billboarded sprites (56 in this case) on a rig instead of modelling him?
Probably the best tile management and color use I've ever seen anyone do on NES. (from an unfinished Castlevania hack by someone who went by the name "Thaddeus")

Unsung heroes time! This is Toshihiko Nakago of SRD. He was the lead programmer on Super Mario Bros and many other Nintendo titles, and in reality served as co-director on many of the projects he was involved in in the NES/SNES era.
