Woke up twice today…once at 4am for my surgery appointment and once after surgery! God is good. Thanks to the Doc Kildow and the nurses at Bellevue Medical Center for taking good care of me. Gonna feel it for a bit, but my new hip is going to feel so good in the long run. 👍🏼🦿😈

Young athletes: Want to become better at your “main” sport? Play other sports! Expand your athletic profile! Compete when it doesn’t come easy! There’s no substitution for competition. There will be plenty of time to develop your “main” skills, go out & develop as a competitor!👍🏼

Being a guy who played a little bit, I know the impact that can be made on players & a locker room by fans and social media. Been saying it for years, the biggest problem with NU football are the fans who don’t understand how hard it is to win, how the game has changed, etc.

I don’t think it’s a secret that I coach my players hard. I do have an actual philosophy about that. I think it’s important to value success and failure. Too often as adults we try to protect kids from failure/their short comings. I don’t believe it’s in their best interest. (1)

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the opportunities my HS players have playing AAU. Playing against high level comp & getting some exposure to college coaches is great. But why do they have to play all Spring & July? They are kids right? They are students? Don’t they need rest?🤔

Amen! Biggest problem I see in youth & HS sports today. We have to play basketball year round. We have to play 3 seasons of baseball. We have to lift for football all winter. Makes no sense to me. 🤷🏻♂️

Kam and I spent this weekend in Denver. We even found our way up to Breckenridge for the afternoon. I did an Alumni Event and we saw the Broncos beat the Packers. Wouldn’t trade these trips for anything!

Derrin is a top notch coach who has gone above and beyond what that position asks of a head coach. He’s coached his teams to wins they should not have accomplished and he should be proud of what they accomplished at UNO.
Omaha has parted with Derrin Hansen as the Mavs MBB coach. Lots of thoughts that I will share in due time. We’ve become close friends, sharing the highs and lows of life and hoops. As my grandpa used to say “he’s good people.” Huge impact on people and a program. Thank you, DH.
