Is it real? Founders of 4 main couriers in China are from the same county in Zhejiang province. All have close relationships, brothers by blood, schoolmates or former senior staff. 1 founded in 1993, other 3 from 1999-2002. Incredible. Guess this is how guanxi worked in 80-90s.

“We have no eternal allies & we have no perpetual enemies” - Lord Palmerston. It’s time for Britain to return to that spirit as the old order collapses. An alliance of middle powers, against the rivalry of Washington, Beijing & Moscow, is our only hope. https://t.co/HCpF4WFMzL

Interesting. Nanjing Agricultural University recently launched Sinong, China's first open-source LLM specialised for the agricultural sector.

China has launched its first open-source, vertical large language model (LLM) dedicated to the general agricultural sector, marking a significant breakthrough in foundational AI model research and its applications for agriculture in the country. The model, Sinong, which is named

This will almost certainly go unnoticed given the state of the world today, but tonight - last thing on EP agenda - lawmakers will debate a motion condemning Jimmy Lai's conviction Most newsy bit is the call for "Commission to initiate the suspension of HK status under the WTO"

Generations of Chinese left their country for livelihood in the last century. As I said, people who left in the past decade were the most delusional. Particularly for ppl without higher education. Their decisions were based on false premises & a distorted perception of the West.

David Cameron was bright & right on China. Sadly he was weeded out for honouring democracy. Brits endured the fallout, a lost decade of wandering. Keir Starmer is now back to square one and attempts to rekindle the missed golden era. When there is a will, there is hope.

Carney's speech in full text. IMO, it's a powerful essay marking a crucial inflection point of the century. A moment in which China's success to be recognised by the West with genuine respect & integrity. The tide of public opinion will follow. https://t.co/i66v5y6Qnz

Mark Carney's full speech at Davos. Starts at 1:17. Lasts about 16mins. Worth a listen. I think the Canadian🇨🇦 PM really sets the bar for other Western leaders. https://t.co/URQdtdanH6

This Forbes article is so misleading. It's data only up to October last year. Exactly before China resumed soybean purchase. You've to question the intent of the author & its publisher. The headline is picked up by Americans who don't read & uses it as propangda against Trump.

COMAC delivered thirteen C919 in 2025, far below expectation. But interestingly eight of them were done in the last two months of 2025. So looks like the pseudo ban of jet engine export was settled as part of the China-US trade negotiations.

I have remained skeptical of claims that Xi is a counter-reformer. If we assume Xi adheres to his father's legacy, the critics' logic falters. As China's success persists, Xi is increasingly seen as carrying forward Deng's legacy of reform & open up.

Does look like it. Trump takes advantage of a vulnerable Europe. Though it’s Biden let the Ukraine war break out. Equally nut European politicians took extreme stance on Russia for their guilt of initial inaction in Ukraine w/o realizing Trump was not a person but a movement.

The American strategy was brilliant: Cut Europe off from Russia, whose close and inexpensive energy fueled its industry, send all Europe’s weapons to Ukraine to be destroyed and then eat Europe alive. Fanatical European leaders who went along stabbed their people in the back.

IMO Canada's deal with China is neither "caving" nor some gutsy pivot away from the U.S. It was a pragmatic response to facts on the ground. Canada raised EV tariffs on China to 100% to align with U.S. in 2024 when that's what the U.S. wanted: closer ties with partners in
