So what’s the way forward?.✅ Real seed funding pool from state + private.✅ Startup-led policymaking.✅ Less noise, more execution.✅ Local heroes who build from within.Odisha doesn’t lack founders. It lacks the courage to back them.

Media focus is still on politics & pageants. Unlike Kerala or Gujarat, regional media here rarely covers rising founders or bootstrapped startups. Visibility matters.

Startups need friction to solve problems. Odisha doesn’t allow that. Everything is “chaliba.”.Corruption, inefficiency, and “adjust kari daba” culture kills innovation. Startups solve pain-points—Odisha hides them.

Social mindset is a roadblock. Still glorifying government jobs and UPSC. Parents still fear “business” as a dirty word.

Investors won’t come where the story isn’t strong. Startups need success stories to attract capital. Odisha has none on the national stage. And nobody’s taking the risk to build the first.

Govt policies are ornamental, not operational. “Startup Odisha” sounds great. But ask any founder!.Confusing red tape everywhere. .

Colleges produce toppers, not founders. Top tech talent from NIT, KIIT, CET, etc. But 90% move to Bangalore, Hyderabad, or abroad. Why? No ecosystem here to support innovation or risk-taking.

No real startup ecosystem. Just events. Hackathons, summits, and startup fests look good in photos. But where are the follow-ups? The mentorship? The investor connects?. Odisha glorifies events, not outcomes.

ZERO access to early-stage funding. No active VC presence. No strong angel network. Bhubaneswar has barely seen any seed or pre-seed activity. Without capital, even the best ideas die on Day 0.
