🎉❄️IT'S OVER!!! With Central Park reporting 1.4" of snowfall since yesterday and 1.0" since midnight, the streak of 701 consecutive days without a daily snowfall over 1" at NYC has finally ended.
🎉 It finally happened! Central Park reported 0.4” of measurable snowfall early this morning. This is the first measurable snowfall of the season in NYC, and the latest in the winter season that NYC has reported its first measurable snowfall since records began in 1869.
The earliest sunset of the year in NYC occurs today at 4:28pm. Sunsets start getting later on Wednesday, when sunset will be at 4:29pm - or one minute later than today.

as dense wildfire smoke settles in close to the surface. Air quality is very poor and visibility has dropped significantly.
Friday's Weather Rating: 4/10
Another gradual improvement (look at us go). High temperatures in the mid 50s with partly sunny skies. Isolated showers are possible this afternoon and blustery west winds will continue. The vibes are...getting there.
A solar eclipse is a really cool thing and anybody who tells you otherwise is being a dummy. There will be a *partial* (89.9%) solar eclipse today in NYC.
Start: 2:10pm
Max Eclipse: 3:25pm
End: 4:36pm
Go enjoy it (while wearing ISO-certified eclipse glasses) and have fun!
Thursday’s Weather Rating: 10/10
Cryin’ pumpkin spiced tears in the club. A high near 75, low dew points and lots of sunshine. The vibes are immaculate!!!
Wednesday's Weather Rating: 0/10
HORRENDOUS weather continues, with rain (occasionally heavy), and temperatures only reaching the mid 40s. Strong wind gusts up to 60mph are possible tonight. If there is a redeeming quality to this day, I can't find it. There are no vibes.
Thursday's Weather Rating: 10/10
Oh we're back, baby! What a change. High temperatures in the lower 70's, comfortable dew points, sunshine and a nice breeze. Hard to think of better weather than this in October. The vibes are amazing!!
January 2023 will go down as the warmest in NYC since records began in 1869. There was zero accumulating snowfall reported. Temperatures were above-average on all 31 days of the month.
Thunder sounds louder tonight in NYC thanks to the presence of a thermal inversion. A layer of warmer air a few thousand feet above our heads acts like a wall — refracting sound waves from lightning back down towards the ground.
THE DEW POINT IS THE BEST REPRESENTATION OF HOW IT FEELS OUTSIDE BECAUSE IT IS AN ABSOLUTE MEASURE OF THE AMOUNT OF MOISTURE IN THE ATMOSPHERE WHILE THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY IS CALCULATED RELATIVE TO THE TEMPERATURE AND IS OFTEN WILDLY MISLEADING
Thursday's Weather Rating: 10/10
WE ARE SO BACK! High temperatures in the mid 70s, sunshine, low dew points (finally) and a glorious northerly breeze. This is what September should feel like. The vibes are immaculate!!!
Friday’s Weather Rating: 7/10
The most fall day to ever exist, probably. Highs only reach the lower 60’s, with dew points in the 30’s (!!). Actually feeling chilly out there this morning with a stout breeze continuing all day. Chilly tonight, too. The vibes are so crisp 🍂
NYC is yet to record 1” of snow this winter. The record for the latest inch of snow in NYC is on January 29th, during the winter of 1972-1973.
Today is also the 308th consecutive day without measurable snowfall in NYC, the 6th longest such stretch since records began.
Today is the winter solstice, and also the shortest day of the year in NYC with a daylength of 9:15:17. Days start getting longer tomorrow, December 22nd, 2023.
NYC, NJ EARTHQUAKE: Preliminary magnitude 4.8 earthquake occurred a short time ago 18 miles north of Plainfield, NJ (magnitude via USGS). This data is unofficial and will be refined as we move forward. No tsunami risk is anticipated.
Wednesday's Weather Rating: 7/10
The date is September 95th. The temperature rises into the mid 60s in NYC. It's oddly nice outside, even a bit humid. Nobody has seen a snowflake in weeks. In the distance, a scream: "What month is it?!" The vibes are very weird...
Thursday's Weather Rating: 10/10
One year after the worst weather day ever, we are given this gem. Sunny, highs in the 80's, a great northwest breeze and very low dew points. September is here. The vibes are immaculate!!!

Did very loud thunder jolt you out of bed this morning? You can thank a temperature and moisture inversion, visualized on this observed sounding from OKX. The inversion acts like a boundary above us and traps sound waves from lightning close to the surface. Oh, and good morning!
Saturday’s Weather Rating: 10/10
We’re in our peak autumn weather era. Highs near 70° F, lots of sunshine, low dew points and a light breeze. That’s it. The vibes are perfect!!
Tuesday's Weather Rating: 10/10
We're in our perfect autumn weather phase, baby!! Highs in the lower 70's, low humidity and a light breeze. It doesn't get better than this. The vibes are simply perfect.
As pointed out by
@NWSNewYorkNY
earlier today, it has been 650 days since NYC has seen a daily snowfall over 1". This is the longest such streak since records began in 1869. I put every one of those days on a graphic to help visualize just how long that really is - a long time.
Wednesday's Weather Rating: 10/10
WE DID IT! High temperatures in the upper 70s, partly cloudy skies, low dew points and a light breeze. That's it. It's perfect. The vibes are immaculate!!
