It’s really time for @IIHFHockey to show that their organization values women in hockey and find a way to get the Worlds best U18 Women on the ice. Postponing/Rescheduling this TOP TIER tournament while keeping health & safety top of mind would be a great way to start!.
The IIHF will reportedly cancel all of its January events amid rising COVID-19 cases around the world, meaning the women's under-18 tournament will not be played for a second consecutive year.

It’s why we’re trying to push women’s professional sports from being something that you do on top of your 9-5 job to a true career path. Too many great players hanging up the skates early because they need to pay rent/put food on the table/make money to buy new skates 🤷🏽♀️.
It was hard hearing @nursey16 say that she probably would’ve stopped playing hockey if she hadn’t been picked for the national team (BC she needs to make a living) I know this - I’ve known it for the past decade - but still. Can’t imagine someone like her not still playing.

I am so sad. The protocols, the time & the energy put into having our first World Championship in over 2 years. completely kiboshed (the day before team arrivals) with zero discussion. We are such a resilient group and we’ve shown it over & over again but I’m beyond frustrated.
With health and safety in mind, the Province of Nova Scotia has made the decision to cancel the upcoming #WomensWorlds. Hockey Canada and @IIHFHockey will look to host the tournament in Canada in 2021. FULL STATEMENT ⬇️.
