Honestly a thing about Boston that I didn't realize is that Boston is just a very wealthy city. I feel like I've yet to see any very poor parts of it, and I've walked a good amount of the city proper at this point. Even the poor parts feel kind of rich!

>at the oldest continuously operating bar in the U.S. >Talk nice with some boomers next to me, they get me a free round Boston has like the nicest people I've seen, 100% beat the slander here
Landed in Boston, and immediately had a very nice stranger correct me on (incorrect) transit directions I was going to take. New England 100% beat any allegations of unfriendliness with that alone

This is not how the real world works. Keeping things a secret with so many moving parts is virtually impossible. What is the model of the world that conspiracy believers have? I'm actually really curious on this now.

To claim Shapiro covered it up would implicate dozens of individuals that are were complicit in covering it up, including but not limited to the local PD, medical officials, basically every AG since 2011, and the Chester County DA's office (as well dozens of others).

Do I think Greenberg killed herself? Probably not, but there's evidence to go both ways. But it was the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office that initially declared pointed it to suicide! This is why the lawsuit was against the medical examiner.

The responses to this have just now shown me that people actually believe Shapiro covered up a murder?? I thought they knew they were lying but no, they straight up believe it (for various reasons).
leftism is when you regurgitate conspiracy theories spread by Doug Mastriano that only gained traction among the farthest of the far right, and the more you do that the more leftist you are

I just realized, is right now the time where there are the most Jewish governors? There's like 6 right now, that's kind of wild.

It's clear you don't like Shapiro because he's a centrist! That's ok, you can just say you don't want a centrist!

re: the ISIS vs Boko Haram conflict in the Sahel: is there a reason the groups massively scaled up fighting eachother recently? I can't find out what the proximate cause was

At some point you start searching for things to buy (for me, as an individual, that point is ~40-50k according to my expenses and hobbies). Past that point for an individual I really don't get what more money gets. Do some people not have a natural upper limit on spending?

This is going to put me as not one of the techbros on blind, but I seriously wonder how TC flexing became the default. Obviously, all things considered it's better to be richer than poorer, but like there's huge diminishing returns to happiness past like 100k iirc

With enough calls, change can be affected here: it's not something that I could see be partisan because it is far lower salience than it should be

The situation in El Fasher is so much worse than I thought it was (and I thought it was awful). This is a reminder to call your local Congress members about it
🚨ATROCITY ALERT 🚨 1) Most remaining civilians have not fled El Fasher - likely trapped or dead 2) RSF continues mass killings 3) Displaced people visible in Garni, location of reported gross human rights abuses. #KeepEyesOnSudan 🛰️@vantortech @AirbusDS

I don't even know what combating this looks like, or what you can even do to help combat it. This will doubtlessly end up being put on Mamdani's hands though, as it continues to grow.

Of course, I don't think Mamdani will be especially apt at combating it in NYC, but I also don't think Cuomo would be either. What I can see is that the U.S. really does feel like it is about to be swept by a wave of antisemitism, spread organically from the bottom up.

With Zohran's election, most Jews I know *are* very concerned that antisemitism will increase, and contra to many people here, I believe that it definitely will. Not because of or in spite of Mamdani, but because point antisemitism spreads via social networks and media.
