How timely, last night my grandparents (b. 1933) were just telling me how they participated in Ragamuffin Day growing up in Queens and the rest of the family had never heard of it before.
In 1956 the #MacysDayParade was a catastrophe as bad winds took out several balloons, incl. Mighty Mouse and the 'Gorgeous Gobbler'. Meanwhile, across town, according to @NYDailyNews, a version of the Ragamuffin Parade was still in the city streets: #MacysThanksgivingDayParade

How fun! Enjoyed the historic holiday train ride in December, recommend as a fun experience if you can go to the Parade of Trains this weekend.
#MeetTheTrains: Ordered between 1930 and 1940, the R1/9 cars featured rattan seats, paddle ceiling fans, incandescent light bulbs, and roll signs for passenger information. Take a ride on these cars this Saturday and Sunday at Parade of Trains! .
