"One of the criticisms I've faced over the years is that I'm not aggressive enough or assertive enough, or maybe somehow, because I'm empathetic, I'm weak. I totally rebel against that. I refuse to believe that you cannot be both compassionate and strong." - Jacinda Ardern

Home can be a dangerous place for women, if they are stuck in self-isolation together with their abuser. It is very difficult to call the helpline when the perpetrator is always around. Stay vigilant and call the police if you suspect that someone you know needs help!🏛️ #EndGBV

Jared Kushner and his private sector buddies shouldn't be making policy decisions in secret to further line their pockets and leave millions of families behind. The White House must comply with ethics and conflict of interest laws—even in a pandemic. https://t.co/DFepeD4N1O

School closures due to #COVID19 have resulted in millions of children spending more time online, leaving them vulnerable to sexual exploitation, grooming, violence and bullying. We must all step up to keep children safe. #ENDviolence via @UNICEF

There are people today who may well have symptoms of coronavirus, but who have to go to work because they don’t have any paid family or medical leave. How does that happen in the richest country in the history of the world?

Peace is not just the absence of war. Many women under lockdown for #COVID19 face violence where they should be safest: in their own homes. Today I appeal for peace in homes around the world. I urge all governments to put women’s safety first as they respond to the pandemic.
