Public broadcasting reaches nearly every American with local news, kids shows, and emergency alerts. Now, Republicans in Congress are trying to claw back funding for these outlets that already passed with bipartisan support. I spoke out in support of public media on the floor:

Minnesotans understand the value of public broadcasting. It’s given us Prairie Home Companion, Marketplace, STEM inspiration for kids, and a spotlight on local artists and chefs. We must protect it for future generations.

PBS and NPR connect us—rural and urban—with facts, history, and beauty. Cutting their funding isn’t “fiscal responsibility.” It’s censorship. The West Wing still resonates because it believed in public service. So do we. If you want to defund something, start with
