To decrease the size of the university, we need a dean of university efficiency. We’ll fix everything by creating a new dean!

How do you define success in a Student-Centered classroom? What is different from a more traditional one? Anyone out there have any articles or anything they recommend on this?

It’s that time of year in Australian academia: awards, grants, promotions, and new positions are being constantly announced. It’s okay to feel envious. But other people’s success says *nothing* about your self-worth. 1/3

📣As long as those promoting the “science of learning” are ignorant of their ideological stances of education, we will continue to see more despondent pre-service & graduate teachers, sold a story that explicit teaching will solve the educational & societal problems of our world.

In the prototype Visible Learning model Herbert Walberg framed it as an 'educational productivity' model (in the 80s). In the 00s, Hattie was framing the exact same model (conceptually) as 'evidence-based'. Often evidence = very narrow evidence about productivity.

A masterful storyteller, deftly bringing together characters from London, Mesopotamia, Türkiye, and Iraq across the years. Reminded me at times of Brooks’ The People of the book and Williams’ Dictionary of Lost Words. #read2024
