This might cost a ton of money but I was bummed we didn't even get a crack at this, my guess is Cloudflare, Godaddy, and Bluehost didn't either—why Google didn't make this a competitive process? Concerning to have so many domains going to a proprietary CMS.
What you get when you transfer your domain from Google to https://t.co/eRvNKWaolr: ✅ transfer fees on us ✅ free SSL installation ✅ free privacy protection ✅ lightning-fast DNS speeds ✅ registration extended for 1 year ✅ same or lower price on all TLDs What are you

Food for thought: Automattic hired SO many software engineers who would be rejected by 95% of hiring managers based on their resume based on location and unkown companies they worked beforehand. And these people turned out to be excellent hires, many becoming e.g. tech leads.

Great, practical, guide on how to write a successful library. When people talk about why X is great, most trendy topics are highly overrated and the topics in this post are highly underrated. https://t.co/HKbEDtkKUA

I feel like, if you care about learning, long tenures are highly underrated. In online discourse, a lot of people recommend job hopping frequently specifically to learn a lot and avoid stagnation, but I think that's generally the opposite of correct.

It is because at Certain Times, given Certain Circumstances, humans will Behave Badly when confronted with Certain Ideas, and if you are The Main Platform Where That Idea is Being Discussed, you cannot do NOTHING, because otherwise humans will continue behaving badly.

I've now been asked multiple times for my take on Elon's offer for Twitter. So fine, this is what I think about that. I will assume the takeover succeeds, and he takes Twitter private. (I have little knowledge/insight into how actual takeover battles work or play out) (long 🧵)

I suppose this is a good opportunity to let people know that I'll be running @Tumblr personally for a while, and it will be my top priority within @automattic. There is a ton of opportunity for improvements the community has asked for and deserves, and I'm excited to work on it.
Tumblr, at 15 years old, has just lost its CEO. Yet these half-deserted ruins of a social platform have defined the internet as we know it, @kait_tiffany writes. https://t.co/AgJ70SwGEB

One thing it took me quite a while to understand is how few bits of information it's possible to reliably convey to a large number of people. When I was at MS, I remember initially being surprised at how unnuanced their communication was, but it really makes sense in hindsight.

Today is my last day at Automattic. It's been an amazing experience. This year I'm going to focus on Ariakit and other personal projects. But now I'd like to tell you a little about my experience and why I think you should work for Automattic. 🧵 https://t.co/XWG0Z0vYCy

As a software developer, you may be called upon to perform some of these tasks in your career. How well a CS degree prepares you for these tasks (and whether it even should prepare you for these) is left as an exercise to the reader. 🧵 1/
