@andrewmccalip Can’t think of anything more American than affordable manufacturing that enables a new generation of innovation

"My name's Raymond. I'm 73. I work the parking lot at St. Joseph's Hospital. Minimum wage, orange vest, a whistle I barely use. Most people don't even look at me. I'm just the old man waving cars into spaces. But I see everything. Like the black sedan that circled the lot every

Not sure the motivations for starting are a first-order driver. And yeah, certain motivations are less correlated to longterm success. But these things usually take care of themselves.

Theoretically the free market over time will take care of those things that don’t add value to society. More shots on goal creates more opportunity for innovation. The capital markets to enable this are uniquely American.
This is my single biggest disagreement with YC. Starting a startup to get famous, or to do better than those around you, or for vanity, or yes even just to get rich, is worse for society and worse for founders. It's what leads to the rise of gambling apps and slop apps and get

That being said. There are definitely earnest engineers and operators working at the legacy companies that absolutely want to hear when it breaks. They do the best they can to look into it and see if there’s ANYTHING they can do within their power. Not for lack of good intentions

Fun fact. Refunds are baked into the business model of legacy in flight connectivity. Most don’t even check if it was actually working before refunding you since the safe bet is it didn’t work. Also. Funny how the best performing inflight internet doesn’t cost you a penny :)
@MollySOShea Oh, I am sorry to hear that it didn't work indeed. Please request a refund here: https://t.co/UliKF40IcS. My apologies for the inconvenience. /Nico

The universe has actually given me the opportunity to chop it up with Billie -- and she's legitimately a kind hearted human being. So I choose to believe these comments are coming from a really good place. Think Peter did an awesome job w/ the "steel man" of her POV.

Subtracting personal stakes... Bezos has created ~$1.1T of value for others w/ Amazon Zuck ~$1.3T w/ Meta E ~$1.4T w/ Tesla/SpaceX/xAI That's $3.8T of value from these 3 founders alone. Larger than the GDPs of all but the largest 6 countries.
Billie Eilish calls out Elon Musk for not using his wealth to aid humanity and resolve global issues: “f***ing pathetic p***y b**** coward”

The initial implementations of Starlink on airlines didn't require any passwords or logins. Simply selected the WiFi and you were on. Like your living room, but with wings.
Wifi passwords should disappear everywhere (hotels, homes, airports, restaurants/coffee shops). We probably waste over 100m person hours a year collectively typing in wifi passwords. Your phone should just auto-connect wherever you are, like cell towers. And no, none of those

Think bigger. Imagine if every time you sent an email, the packet had to “stop” at everyone else’s computer along the network before getting to the end recipient. Super inefficient right? Also — what you describe is basically many Robovans in a Boring Company tunnel.
