For 5 years I've studied the brains of people with depression who died by suicide. Here's what I found: https://t.co/Cc72YicDjy Happy to take questions here, please share and comment as you like, and keep well everyone! 🙂

Working as a medical writer has shown me that academic research does not contribute to drug development in the real world in the way that academic scientists think it might... and it's all a bit surprising. Pretty happy being a medical writer so far though.🙂

So on Day 2 of my first post-PhD job as a medical writer, I am holding myself back from researching the etymology of obelisms in proofreading markup language. Once a PhD, always a PhD. #phdlife

Everyone knows already that Sci-Hub is the greatest contribution to science and humanity and etc. Where is my Nobel Peace Prize then? I wonder

I'm surprised I hadn't thought about how drugs leaking into water systems might affect aquatic life. I never thought it'd be strong enough... https://t.co/ShrAFn3xUT

I am at my virtual PhD convocation, in a different country, in my pyjamas, petting my dog, while my Dad is hammering a nail into the wall upstairs.

So I just got an email congratulating me on my PhD graduation, but my convocation is on Friday. So I have moved from being an official graduand to an unofficial graduate for four days. Digital graduation feels quite empty?

Final paper from my PhD project is out today. It's a comprehensive review of postmortem studies of human astrocytes, and includes theories for how astrocytes are involved in major depressive disorder. I'll make bigger posts about this in the future.
