To anyone who wished they could go to church today. Anyone who did go and doesn't know how to help. Anyone who can't reconcile their decision to leave or stay in their faith. Anyone who can't make out their own spiritual needs and values from those of others. This one's for you.
We couldn't be happier/more relieved to announce that I, Lord is now ARTS COUNCIL FUNDED!. It’s been a heckuva road. But survivors of spiritual and/or faith-based trauma deserve to be heard, and we weren’t going to stop until we got that platform.

But that's an extreme example. Putting a year's time limit on going through a complaints process shows a complete lack of awareness of how trauma works, let alone the practical risks involved in complaining (which are many, with countless nuances for different circumstances).

In my case, my "good reason"s included not knowing misconduct was happening (he was covering up the abuse I had reported to him and as far as I knew I was patiently waiting for an outcome), and being homeless and hospitalised therefore unable to access Internet and info freely.

So glad to see @ChurchTimes drawing attention to this. The executive power of one person to decide if I had "good reason" not to complain within a year of misconduct, and to do so with misogyny and ableism, was the final straw of me not being able to return to the CofE.
A survivor writes about the emotionally exhausting process of making a CDM complaint out of time — only for it to be refused.

If you'd told me in the absolute depths of funding rejections, unanswered e-mails, dissociative episodes and ongoing battles over my case and my relationship with spirituality while trying to get 'I, Lord' off the ground, that we would achieve this. .
