Plot Twist:.It was all a carefully laid out ploy to make them the #1 ranking hashtag on social media. The spouses are in on it. Now that would be some real cold play.

The only reason Twitter works is because people love to hate each other, especially when they can be anonymous and get away with anything they say. All I see in my 10-15 minutes of browsing here is hate, hate, and more hate.

Just saying that the cover designing process of my next book, GHOST WHISPERS (co-authored with Sarbajeet Mohanty), has begun! If all goes well, this will be my third release this year, and 18th book overall. :). Publishers: Rupa Publications.Agents: The Book Bakers.

- and one more: DO NOT ASK FOR FREE OR DISCOUNTED COPIES (in fact, pay extra because we authors need to earn to keep doing the amazing things only we can do). #WritingCommunity.

- make the time to drop in when we have an event in your city (all of us, even the biggest ones, yearn for an audience; please help us save face).- and, important: preorder our next book because you loved this one so much (keeps us going and we all need that momentum) +.

- ask your child's school library to keep the book (imagine if every reader who loved our books did that!).- write to us, or send us a picture with the book (we are surprisingly accessible, we don't bite back, and we love to share such gestures of love on our socials) +.

- tell friends and contacts about it (after all, how much can one talk about cricket and geopolitics without complete knowledge of either?).- visit a bookstore and ask about the book, and if not available, tell them to get it (helps in getting our books stocked and restocked) +.

- talk about it on social platforms (more constructive than those purposeless political rants most people indulge in).- write a review (everyone loves to crib about what they disliked; for once, let's write at least a one-liner about what we liked) +.

Love an author's work? Well, you do not have to move mountains to express your love. All you could do is:.- buy a copy of our book (costs much less than that insipid coffee at Starbucks on a random Wednesday afternoon) +.

Starting on 16 July, I'll be mentoring a new 10-day batch at the Scholastic Writers Academy. This batch is for adult writers, whom I shall guide to pen short stories, which will then be published in an anthology put out by Scholastic India.

Why is the #WritingCommunity not active here anymore? Just about a year ago, my feed was flooded with writing-related posts and my own tweets got a lot of traction within the community. Now I see nothing of it. Have they all gone silent or migrated elsewhere?.

Producers: Give us a unique story, something very different, very 'hatke'. Also, producers: This is too different from what's popular right now, man. Nahin chalega.

I wish all my aspiring author friends get published and become overnight bestsellers like Raj Malhotra (Amitabh Bachchan) in the movie Baghban.
