Want to open schools? Do a hard lockdown now for 6 weeks to get the virus under control then open schools late September. I haven't heard any other strategy to reopen safely that sounds remotely plausible given rampant spread in many areas. via

"get the virus under control" ..if you recall we locked down for several months and yet the virus re-emerged. Perhaps lockdowns don't work? Same belief system that Fed/CB's control inflation. How's that been working out?

@WSJ
We never did a hard lockdown. In Minnesota, 90% of workers were deemed essential. Other countries locked down much more aggressively and their economies are benefiting from it now. They aren't out of the woods but the case load is low enough to control.

I said it in March (to the dismay of many Republicans I'm associated with)-we need to hard lockdown 6-8 weeks. The virus would likely run its course. As a country, we've not chosen that path. We're left with what we have now. Glad to see someone in a position thinking the same.

what happens when you re-open again after 6 weeks and the virus comes back? Close again?? What do we do with the tens of thousands of newly failed businesses and tens of millions unemployed? Print trillions more and reduce their purchasing power while congratulating yourself?
@olepett
Create three graphs:
• Deaths per capita
• Economic output
• Population immunized to date
Make sure to include all Western European countries.
Then you can decide if you prefer the Swedish approach or not.

Because it really worked out for Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Spain.
This is an “appeal to purity” fallacy - “if only we did a lockdown in a more pure, more obedient way, it would of worked.”

Sir, I was already unemployed for 4 months, the unemployment I received didn’t cover my bills, I drained savings. Now I’m back at work and earning 1/2 what I used to and unemployment is now 1/2 that. How will my daughter and I eat or where will we live?

“young children not only transmit SARS-CoV-2 efficiently, but may be major drivers of the pandemic as well.”

Neel wants one more go to take the rest of the economy for his oligarch friends now that the first lockdown worked so well for them.
Truly horrific what’s happening across economy due to this thinking.
You do hard lockdown it will come back again - this thing is everywhere.

Please stick to what you know, which is stock market fraud and leave everything else alone. How many mandates do you have. I can not wait til protestors light up your regional offices

@WSJ
Neel, you have not got serious about outbreaks. Your team has embolden this Administration and the whole coubtry to ignore data. What did you think would happen?
