It's astounding how people can ignore the fact Government spent £42 billion shielding taxpayers from the skyrocketing price of gas two years ago - the equivalent of all its spending on transport infrastructure this year - and that gas is still driving our high wholesale prices.

It's astounding how politicians and "industry experts" can watch hundreds of billions spent on grids upgrades, £12bn a year on subsidies, £2bn extra a year on balancing and £1.5bn on capacity backup, all for renewables, and then blame gas.

Nice to end the day with some uplifting news - the UK & India agreeing to work more closely to roll out renewables. And lovely that they were joined by UK offshore wind companies like Venterra. He's @Ed_Miliband & @LizziCollinge visiting a one of their factories in Morecambe last

Energy Secretary @Ed_Miliband was in India to agree action to accelerate the economic opportunities of the clean energy transition and champion UK businesses. The agenda also included agreeing climate action and closer working to boost renewables 🇬🇧 🇮🇳.

Isn't a bit difficult to claim renewables aren't delivering low cost electricity - whilst at the same time announcing new policies to deter farmers from investing in solar farms, which they're currently doing because they generate low cost electricity. .

We asked Aurora to model what would happen if we 'scrapped net zero' and leaned into fully unabated gas - it would be more expensive for billpayers than a renewable energy dominated system.

If you're on your way to the Reform press conference this afternoon, which I've heard is going to cover renewables. Worth bearing in mind two things. First, there are currently at least 55 companies in Great Yarmouth who work in the offshore wind sector, employing c500 people.

You can find the Govt's statement here. I should say, this isn't the end of the story. Govt will need to continue to keep going if it wants to overhaul planning for offshore wind. For example, DEFRA will need to clarify policy around seabirds, resourcing of the planning system.

Big announcement in the Chancellor's speech for fans of offshore wind, green growth & nature. Govt are unlocking billions of investment in offshore wind, and paving the way for future projects to come, through the establishment of a Marine Recovery Fund. The MRF will be funded.

Have to say, although there's lots to like about the Climate and Nature Bill, I can also see why MPs will be voting against it. Communities are always consulted on new wind farms, we don't need to legislate for that. The issue here is how you demonstrate community support. We.

Timely report ahead of Govt's Clean Power 2030 response (expected tomorrow) highlighting just how significant the Welsh, Scottish & N Irish Govts are for delivering renewables (look at wind 👇). Cross-Govt collaboration has definitely been increasing, and we need it to continue

Buried in this sad story there are three lessons for the UK:.1️⃣ We can secure new jobs in onshore wind - Vestas are looking at refurbishing the factory to focus on onshore wind blades, maintaining 300 workers (it was formally offshore). This is only possible because of the new.

Missed this last week - it's the best polling I've seen, post election, on the Conservative approach to net zero 👇. We've long known Lab/Lib Dem switchers are very pro, but this breakdown of Reform voters is new. In short, instead of looking at Reform voters as a block,.
