This goes beyond tenants. Shelter residents at the Delta & other hotel shelters are living w broken ACs. @Homes_First management says they've been repaired but every week residents show us pics of their thermostats reading 27° or higher! Demand justice for shelter residents!

Shameful behavior by @Homes_First
Today at the Delta, after management told us we could accompany an evicted resident into the shelter to discuss their case, a crew of 5 security guards assaulted us & @Homes_First staff said "I don't give a fuck about your rights." Homes First needs to be SHUT DOWN!

Almost a million spent and still no housing. #topoli
What a joke. $77K/month to store what the @cityoftoronto calls "innovative small-scale housing that provides people experiencing homelessness w safe homes". This is the City game: preach progress to the public while abusing poor folx in shelters, camps, supportive housing.

Have you heard our inteview w @BPofDisruption about Toronto's war on the poor & how we're fighting back by organizing unhoused folks across shelters, hotels & encampments? #NoHomelessEvictions #topoli
Our latest interview was with @ShelterHotelsTO They are organizing against what can only be described as a war on people experiencing homelessness, and the carceral shelter system many sell as a solution. Hear their story:

Gorgeous banner painting after the Homeless Memorial at Trinity: "Homelessness is a Death Penalty" a retort to the City of Toronto's deadly and criminalizing approach to the unhoused community

On Tues, a resident at Trinity Square passed on after an OD. Just hours after the @cityoftoronto destroyed another tent set aside for harm reduction, first aid & fire safety equipment. City Govt has its hands full of blood for every homeless death in Toronto.

Absolutely true. The @cityoftoronto is failing poor folks across the spectrum, from not holding operators accountable to inflicting carceral punishment on folks directly (this incident happened at @TOHousing)

Agencies that work with poor & unhoused communities should take a stand against the contracts they have to sign with @cityoftoronto that requires them to report to & work with the police.

A couple months ago @YSM_TO outreach workers were inside the Tim's by TMU with coffee & donuts available for unhoused folks. They were all deeply engaged in a convo w 8-10 cops who stood by their table the entire time. So ya, this pilot doesn't surprise us.

This program will be deadly for our community, including members at Trinity Square, who already face violence from the police & carceral attacks from the City. The @cityoftoronto isn't just neglecting the unhoused population, they're engaged & invested in a war against the poor.
Why is Toronto Public Health partnering with the Toronto Police? This will have really harmful consequences. It will discourage people from accessing medical supports. It will destroy the trust that outreach workers have spent years building with unhoused people...

This is how the police deal with community member in crisis. Pepper sprayed and face bloodied. Dragged through the building screaming for help.

Some really amazing work happening at the Delta!
Gorgeous day for Delta Out-reach. Brought tents, sleeping bags, tarps, mats, clothes, and menstrual protection to folx in a growing encampment accross from the Delta. Some of the folx have been service restricted. One friend has been there for two winters. Next week: big meeting!

Voices crew had a picnic lunch in the sun w residents! Folks were in good spirits, despite the Streets to Homes workers having nothing to offer anyone. We're doing case work with residents to find housing. Sadly, our supply tent is gone but we will be setting up a new one soon!

Help out a friend who is struggling right now. Even $10 makes a difference.
My friend is on the hook for rent again and arrears are starting to pile up. They have no family and they’re being ghosted by OW. It would mean the world to us if you could share and/or contribute to alleviate a little bit of their stress https://t.co/grzUUu16us
