We have been lucky enough to offer space today for presentations on subjects including film, literature, linguistics, and art history, and to cover ideas as varied as meat's relationships to caste systems, to the terror of survival cannibalism.

An absolute delight to host StOMAC's first conference today, where we have been spoiled by a phenomenal series of papers from speakers at all stages in their research careers, from Masters programmes to established academics.
Our first panel, titled ‘Looking at Meat’ and chaired by Gina Lyle (@murielsnark), begins to pull apart key ways in which we observe meat culturally, from how we think about the obfuscation of slaughter to the use of animal bodies in print making.

This past week we've been celebrating my mum's first birthday - she had a stem cell transplant a year ago, so her immune system has just turned one! This transplant, without being overdramatic, saved her life and it was the kind donation of a total stranger.
