After sketching the models, we made pro-pro charts looking at the benefits of model A & B. Next we looked for common themes between the 2 models and decided what we would need to bring into model C marking w/ ❤️s. We decided that our new model will be based on mastery & autonomy
Ss engaged in integrative thinking by sketching & analyzing 2 opposing models in response to the question: ‘How can school communities be partners with Ss to support their well-being at Davisville?’ Ss enhancing their critical thinking skills on real-world issues. @FOS6Alvarez

As we continue to explore different ideas of home, we learned about how people welcome each other into their homes. Next we learned about #littleamal, her home & displacement and wrote “Where I’m From” poems. We learned so much about each other and our diversity @davisville_jps
For grade 2&3 Social Studies we are exploring the idea of “home.” We wrote what we know, think we know and don’t know yet about “home.” Ss described places that are significant to them & their families. Then we mapped them on google my maps. @davisville_jps

We sketched our models to come to a common understanding, talked about the idea of glass half full vs half empty & the importance of looking at benefits. We then made pro-pro charts in small groups looking at the benefits of both models for different groups that are impacted
Infusing Integrative Thinking skills into our SIP to expand Ss’ critical thinking. Ss used a Pro-Pro Chart to analyze the benefits of 2 opposing models to address the issue of reducing garbage in our yard. Extending Ss’ capacity to appreciate multiple perspectives. @FOS6Alvarez

Very proud of room 218!.
After ongoing classroom discussions on why representation matters, students in Gr. 2/3 created a compelling persuasive piece on why it is important to use resources/texts that serve as mirrors, windows, & sliding glass doors. Rich tasks that cultivate Ss criticality. @FOS6Alvarez
