As a PWI graduate, I absolutely feel this. It matters.
One of my students walked into class like most undergrads do at 930am - physically present but mentally still in bed. As soon as she saw me, her face lit up & she said “Hey Queen!” While some may consider her greeting disrespectful bc she didn’t call me Dr. Jones, it wasn’t (1/3).
