It’s been an emotional week for Team Formby High, watching ‘Anne’ on @itv but we are so proud of #AnneWilliams and her tireless campaigning for justice. #KevinWilliams remains in the memories and hearts of everyone (past & present) here at school.

Just finished @CoatesSally Headstrong. What a fantastic book. Fuelling excitement and enthusiasm for the job we do. It has challenged my thinking, inspired new ideas, reinforced key values and broadened my knowledge of school leadership! A brilliant and reflective read 👏

Masters well and truly underway! Loved Residential Day One yesterday - some amazing sessions with lots to think about. Equally, great to network with others. Ready for Day Two to commence #ourNCEjourney #educationalleadership #10%braver

Many will have felt anxious about what this week would bring as our new routines moved from plans to reality. Although adjustments may still be needed, I am so proud of my colleagues and our students who have aced this week. #wecandothis #workingtogetherforeachother

Read The Writing Revolution at the beginning of summer. Found it incredibly useful in thinking about HOW to incorporate explicit writing strategies into my class room. Lots to take away and put your own spin on. This blog has some brilliant points and the CPD guide is 👌
*NEW BLOG POST* The Writing Revolution - what I've taken away from this excellent book. With special mention to @HistoryKss @MrPattisonTeach and @MrThorntonTeach.

Sad news. I saw him speak at World Merit Day in 2014 in our hometown of Liverpool; having seen his earlier Ted Talk I had high expectations and he did not disappoint. A huge inspiration to me during my early years of teaching.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Sir Ken Robinson died peacefully yesterday, 21st August 2020, surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer. We will be following up with a further update as we begin to follow Sir Ken’s wishes and honour his legacy.

Brilliant to see students from my year group (and Y11 class) today. They’ve worked hard over the last two years and it was lovely to have a catch up whilst discussing their plans for September. 👏

Proud to see some of our students here. The govs handling of grades has been nothing short of incompetent. Our young people deserve better. When reading about grading across the rest of Europe, I’m appalled at the lack of confidence and trust shown to teachers in the UK.
Students in Liverpool have protested over the way A-level results were given, after more than a third of all grades were below teachers' predictions.

Difficult not being able to see the students today like we normally would. I wish all our History and Politics students the very best with whatever they are going on to do next. They are outstanding young people who I thoroughly enjoyed working with. Today doesn’t change that.

In light of the next disaster #AlevelResults decision regarding the use of #mocks I am just going to leave this thread here again!
The proposal for grading student exams this summer is deeply, deeply problematic. It prioritises the continuity of the exam grading system over fairness to students in a time of significant upheaval. Here are 6 reasons why I think this needs to change:

Nice to have a mention in this! I first put my Hone Your History booklets together 3 years ago. I’ve tweaked them each year since and now use across KS4/5. This year brings more adjustments - good to see other styles & approaches. It’s definitely had an impact for me!

After visiting The Tenement Museum in NY last year, I couldn’t wait to incorporate stories into our A Level course (USA 1920-55). Today I completed my Olusoga inspired ‘A Tenement Through Time’ 🙌 #transitiontoALevel #understandingimmigrantexperiences #realstories #eightresidents
