Good thing DC is on it by . slashing tens of thousands of grants and billions of dollars for scientific research.
So this was the state of things in 2024, based on the 2023 data. Today, China is much much further ahead in the competition for scientific supremacy. The scale of the problem is so much greater than most in DC, or anywhere else for that matter, grasp.

The internet was a mistake. You hear about so much more crime because it's not on local news but we are all functionally innumerate.
What's fascinating about this poll is that a majority among all demographics believe murder rates are higher today than 1990. The murder rate in 2024 was 4.97 per 100k. In 1990 it was 9.45 per 100k. Much of that decrease coming in cities.

lol even tho Trump's 2nd impeachment was the 2nd closest by vote total out of the 4 official and 1 semi-official count.
Under pressure from White House, Smithsonian removes Trump from impeachment exhibit in American History Museum. Now the text reads that "only 3 presidents seriously faced removal," meaning A. Johnson, Nixon and Clinton -- not Trump.

no wonder they think all of their political opponents are so depraved -- when you look in a mirror and see your own filth, you extrapolate it to everyone else.
Giovanni Capriglione, a right wing state rep in Texas who had an affair with a stripper, reportedly told his mistress that he wanted to ejaculate into batter for cookies that would be sold at his daughter's bake sale.

remember when Bill Clinton met with the attorney general on the tarmac and it was evidence of a huge conspiracy?. Why's the deputy AG meeting with a key witness?.
Today, I met with Ghislaine Maxwell, and I will continue my interview of her tomorrow. The Department of Justice will share additional information about what we learned at the appropriate time.

Of course not, those primary voters all want to abolish property taxes entirely.
ken paxton & angela paxton hold mortgages on 3 homes that are each listed as their primary residence (saving them thousands of dollars, collecting impermissible homestead tax breaks on 2 of them). my question is do any TX GOP primary voters even care.

I know it's the Texas Democrats so they're bound to lose but I have to think most Texans would be against holding up flood response unless the most nakedly partisan gerrymander ever passed in Texas gets forced through. Seems ripe for backfire.
So we have the possible script for the #txlege special session:.1. The Senate passes redistricting. 2. The House passes disaster response. 3. The Senate refuses to take up disaster response until the House passes redistricting. 4. Democrats vanish. 5. Adjourn. Rinse. Repeat.

I guarantee you the reason why Trump used "enigma" is cause he just heard it in a sentence like two weeks before writing the letter and decided it sounded awesome. I bet he used enigma 400 times in 2003 before getting tired of it.
As for the use of the word "enigma" which, i guess, people are saying Trump doesn't use(?), there are at least three instances of him using it in his books

Dems should be complaining constantly about how ice agents wear face diapers. I mean literally use that term.
68% of US adults think ICE agents should be required to wear uniforms while making arrests.Only 39% say ICE agents should be allowed to wear masks that hide their identities during arrests.

This, and also permitting/environmental reform to build them quickly, and funding so local counties can build them. Gonna be furious to see these tied up in environmental action plans, or unfunded by rural counties with holes in their budgets.
In response to the deaths of so many in the July 4th flash floods, I will be filing at the earliest opportunity, to bring back civil defense sirens, targeted for flash flood–prone river valleys like the Upper Western Guadalupe River @GBRATX, to strengthen emergency flash flood.

Reminder: CONGRESS has the power to make and unmake tariffs, and it abrogated those powers to the executive. This could stop at literally any time.
Reminder: the US has a FREE TRADE AGREEMENT w S. Korea, signed by the President (GWB) & implemented into LAW by Congress, & TRUMP HIMSELF signed a mini-deal w/ SK in 2018. Now ALL SK imports get a 25% tariff - for now. NO incentive for SK (or anyone else) to negotiate with him.

honestly, Blue Alerts and Amber Alerts have been overused. Weather alerts have always been the model-- targeted, escalatable via media, geographically aware. These other alerts are way overused and people tune them all out.
Fair point for the future to make things better. If phones can go ballistic for a Blue Alert 500 miles away at 4 AM they can sure as hell do the same for an imminent flood in your county at 4 AM.
