Baltimore ended the first half of 2022 with 179 homicides, the worst first half of a year on record (since 1970). Baltimore just ended the first half of 2025 with 68 homicides, which is the fewest on record. That’s a 62 percent drop from 2022-2025

This should be of interest to many of you you walk or bike kids to Creative Minds, Yu Ying or schools further east. DDOT is looking at installing a protected bike lane along Harewood NW/NE and Taylor St NE. There is a petition to support the project here: https://t.co/jIo35M9DL6

My bill with @RepChuyGarcia would ban exactly what RealPage is doing: driving up profits by colluding with landlords to illegally hike already high rent and take advantage of working families. We literally can't afford to let this continue.

Families who rent are being squeezed by the housing crisis, by predatory landlords, and by rising costs of living. Bold and visionary investments are the only way we can ensure working families have access to stable and safe housing.

My message to Republicans in Congress: leave trans kids alone. They are just trying to live their lives. Elected officials should be supporting them, not tearing them down.

The @dcpl system. Free pre-K3 and 4. Pretty awesome playgrounds and rec centers. Paid family leave for private-sector workers. The universal school lottery. (The concept/need is debatable, but the actual tool is very good.) @bikeshare. The MBT.

Turns out immigrants aren’t “takers” after all - they’re givers to the US economy and essential to a sustainable future, especially if we want elder generations to age with dignity.

Due largely to an unexpected surge in immigration, the U.S. economy will be about $7 trillion larger - & federal revenues about $1T bigger - the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said Wednesday

Extreme corporate concentration comes at the expense of working people. Strengthening antitrust enforcement protects consumers & reins in corporate power. That’s why @SenWarren and I are supporting the @FTC's proposed merger guidelines, a necessary step in fighting consolidation.

This is a must read from @mjs_DC on the policy of the DC criminal code rewrite — which was, again, the result of a 16 year process and a common sense set of reforms similar to those done in 37 other states — and states that have seen crime go down after. https://t.co/2AqK1PBL7J

D.C.’s 700,000 residents have no senator to lobby against the bill. We can only plead, like subjects of a colony.

I support D.C. Statehood and home-rule – but I don’t support some of the changes D.C. Council put forward over the Mayor’s objections – such as lowering penalties for carjackings. If the Senate votes to overturn what D.C. Council did – I’ll sign it.

Back in 2021, Biden called D.C.'s lack of voting representation and full self-government "an affront to the democratic values on which our nation was founded." Squaring that with today's statement is, well, difficult.
