The fastest way to kill your startup: Solve problems for people who don't feel them. We learned this the hard way at @try_pixel We spent two months pitching "viral content AI" to CEOs. Their response: "Cool, but we're good." Then we talked to their content manager: "I'm

learned this the hard way. when i launched cupidly on twitter i hit 1k MRR in the first 24 hours so i mistakenly doubled down on twitter distribution, which didn’t convert turns out, twitter is only good for the early adopters and not for consistent sustained growth
here's cluely growth in users over time (growth, not user count) low correlation: impressions on x higher correlation: ig/tiktok impressions + billboards tech twitter is good to plant in, but doesn't scale market outside twitter; the world is big

WHY RETENTION IS SO HARD FOR NEW TECH PRODUCTS I’ve been staring at retention curve data for 15-plus years now. I was a founder, a product manager, and now a VC. And at Andreessen Horowitz, I end up meeting hundreds of startups each year, many of them through our a16z speedrun
