love u nik, but this is wrong. here’s how ugc (user generated content) works: for those who don’t know, ugc is paying some person to give an “organic” recommendation for a product a good ugc video sets a 30sec timer of interest in the user’s mind, no longer you have that time
We crossed $300k in UGC payouts and I can officially say: UGC is a waste of money UGC will bring you lots of organic views but most likely it won't convert - good for virality, bad for sales Sometimes it works for Apps - but will never work for consumer hardware Apps

the best organic content is not a good ad. the best ad will never be viral.

the narrative on x virality has gone too far in the other direction it's still really REALLY good to go viral on x @cluely made ~$100k off our launch video alone; that impressions/$$$ ratio is impossible elsewhere there's other reasons to be skeptical, ill write a blog soon

here's cluely growth in users over time (growth, not user count) low correlation: impressions on x higher correlation: ig/tiktok impressions + billboards tech twitter is good to plant in, but doesn't scale market outside twitter; the world is big

i am a big fan of friend's billboards reasons i am bullish: > ai-companion wearables will compete on distribution, not tech > few are able to snap into existence as much attention as avi > the tech will get better > ai companions are inevitable (i choose to be optimistic)

the uncanny valley of creation you ship your mvp, get some users, maybe even hit some early metrics – and think you're done. but you're actually in the most dangerous spot possible. that first version works but it's not good yet. it's functional but clunky. users try it but

.@im_roy_lee's most controversial interview yet? "I tried to go to therapy once and the whole time I was just thinking 'man this person is retarded'" - Doesn't believe in mental illness - Gives his advice to obese people - Talks about how many users all their crazy marketing

LMFAOOO fwiw i don’t know any north koreans who use @cluely
Just learning that North Korea flooded US market with remote IT workers, not to infiltrate or spy, but to make money for the DPRK! They use AI filters and AI interview cheating tools to get jobs. It’s been so successful, that they’ve made 100s of millions of dollars!

btw videos like this do not convert at ALL the only reason we do it is because we have bandwidth to hire a full time comedy script writer it IS good for hiring + brand awareness

very cool. surprised that lovable doesn’t already have this feature. feels like you should be able to upload a website via url and edit that directly in the editor would fix the issue of AI-generated ui, even if all u could do was get a shitty skeleton of the ui
built a tool that lets you go to any website and edit it just by prompting. reskinned youtube and added a download mp3 button made with @zephratic @jzhou891
