When Jessica and Juan Lizcano first saw their daughter, Mariana, after her #HeartTransplant, they immediately sensed that something was different. Her foot was warm. Her face was pink instead of white. And, most importantly, her heart was working.

Mariana Lizcano was in heart failure before she turned a year old. Support from her family and care team were crucial to her ability to undergo a heart transplant and recover smoothly.

Great didactic this morning by @DoctorVitale on one of my favorite topics - the cyanotic Glenn/hemiFontan, including a discussion of effects of lung volume on PVR #umichpedcards #PedsICU

The annual meeting is just 19 days away! In celebration, we are excited for the first podcast in a two part series in which the women of PCICS talk about the beginnings of the society

Today we honor the loss of 6 teammates who died on a transplant flight. We are reminded that every life saved through transplant is the result of tremendous sacrifice by our teams and the transformative gift of organ donation. https://t.co/r3EYJEuFUm

Yes, this is a great addition to the armamentarium for vascular access. TBH I prefer angiocath for small baby arterial lines but outside of that - I’m using a micropuncture. #umichpedcards

This kit is a game-changer. If you’re not using Micropunture already for arterial and venous access, I highly recommend.

The cold rain and coming winter is putting a damper on my outdoor workouts. Thinking of investing in a cardio bike - Peloton vs NordicTrack. Any advice? @Umichpeds @drmandimd @DoctorVitale @RAiyagari @mgoschu

This is a great thread with CVL tips for all the second year #umichpedscards. I use many of these myself! Most importantly IMO - routine. Do it the same way every time

Sometimes the little extras make the difference in getting the line or not getting the line. This not a how to. These are some tips and tricks that people have taught me over the last 2-3 years, and that I teach to residents. All additions, corrections, and comments welcome!
