Today we collected HM The Queen's Letters Patent that officially makes us the City of Milton Keynes. We'll be formally marking our city status later this year.
Cllr Mohammed Khan is the new Mayor of Milton Keynes for 2021-22 and the first of Bangladeshi heritage. Mayor Khan, who was born in the city of Sylhet in Bangladesh and moved to Bletchley in 1982, was first elected to MK Council in 2013.

A new commercial study has found Milton Keynes is the ‘greenest city in the UK’ based on our number and size of parks.
MK came out top of all UK places with more than 15.42m² of parkland per every ten residents. We’re proud of our green spaces in Milton Keynes.

Our thoughts are with the friends & family of Alderman Kevin Wilson who died earlier this week. Kevin was Labour Councillor for Woughton & Fishermead, former Leader of Milton Keynes Council. He was awarded an MBE for services to Local Government in 2015. He will be sorely missed.

Our gritters used 55 tonnes of salt last night. 11 vehicles currently ploughing snow routes (since 4am). Four additional gangs clearing and gritting CMK car parks/paths + local high streets. Gritting restarts when snowfall ends. Grit and plough routes:
The nine gritting lorries have just left the depot to grit the priority 1 routes which is the grid roads and key link roads into MK.
We use on average 46 tonnes of rock salt on one run which takes around 3 hours to complete
Our teams are busy cleaning the nooks and crannies in CMK which normally wouldn’t be possible during busier times. Keeping MK cleaner and greener. Team and public safety will always be maintained.

Some were attached to lampposts, signs or street name plates. We'll continue to remove items placed without permission on the highway to keep it safe.
Our highways teams have been out and about adding a fresh lick of paint to roundabouts in Milton Keynes - the latest is this one on North Overgate.
