Going through photos on my phone and got a bit nostalgic with all the mangrove pictures from Kulhudhuffushi. Going to tweet out a couple of them. All photos taken by me for @IndependentMV. The life and times of #KulhudhuffushiKulhi.

The identity of a rape victim should never be disclosed to the public unless she (or he) expressly waives anonymity. The disclosure can expose her to added harm, trauma and stigmatization.

We had a good exchange with our colleagues at Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association, talking about shared experiences in our work for press freedom and journalists rights. We are extremely grateful for the regional solidarity. #unionstrong

I analyzed land-allocation data from https://t.co/YzathKixWA for 2019 and 2025. In 2019, 100% of islands allowed any Maldivian to apply for free land. In 2025, 71% still do. But #Binveriyaa? It excluded thousands by design — banning anyone outside Malé. https://t.co/byH4j6Ht9N

The Analysis calls for the whole Act to be repealed and a process of consultation to be conducted before any such legislation is again introduced. It also makes a number of more specific recommendations for reform of the Act to bring it into line with international standards.
