My main takeaways . 1. ~100 mcg of fentanyl with or without adjunctive 50 mg IN ketamine, is typically inadequate analgesia in prehospital trauma patients. 2. Routine adjunctive intranasal ketamine may not be as helpful as we thought at least at a fixed 50 mg dose.

Out-of-Hospital Intranasal Ketamine as an Adjunct to Fentanyl for the Treatment of Acute Traumatic Pain. A really interesting trial about prehospital trauma analgesia . 1/2.

To evaluate if out-of-hospital administration of fentanyl and intranasal ketamine, compared to fentanyl alone, improves early pain control after injury.

If you give a lecture on anaphylaxis management and spend more time on who not to give epinephrine to than on when and how to best give this lifesaving treatment you’re doing it wrong.

I wonder what the response would be if this EMS based fire service had a chief who wasn’t a paramedic at all.

Mayor London Breed today appointed a new interim chief of the San Francisco Fire Department: EMS Deputy Chief Sandra Tong. Firefighters are pissed.
