I am in Shillong/Guwahati briefly for 2-3 months consulting short term with the World Bank. If you are an interdisciplinary researcher from #NorthEastIndia region working on everything health (and everything else!), would love to connect!😊 #GlobalHealth #PublicHealth.

Fantastic conference on #leadership & #genderequality hosted by @EquiLeadOrg. Key message: #leadership is not a title or position but a journey of tapping into one's authentic self & being outrageously audacious. It is okay to feel vulnerable, emotional & have bad days. (1/2)

Secondly, for outcomes ‘self-reported’ by participants, who else do we expect to report experiences on behalf of the person experiencing them?. PS: This could be my 'subjective bias' as a qual researcher.😶 (4/4).

Findings are meant unearth the reasons 'why' an experience is common to many or uniquely defying norms and generalisability. Calling it a ‘limitation’ of qualitative studies is counterintuitive to the objective of qual methods. (3/4).

Quite baffling to me when I come across such statements in the ‘Limitation’ sections of qual studies. Firstly, my understanding as a #qualitative researcher is that qual studies are not designed to make generalisable conclusions but to highlight subjective experiences. (2/4).

“This study suffers from the limitations of generalizability common to #qualitative #research studies.”. “This [qualitative] study has several limitations. The first is that abortion outcomes were self-reported by people who self-managed [an abortion].” (1/4).
