It wouldve been really cool if they let us play as this form in a short "final charge" type section where you dodge The End's attacks and have to get close to it
I'm still really pissed about this why wouldn't they let me play as the cool new form why even bother making a new one just for a cutscene

I agree with this. I think if characters appear they should have a reason and a role in the story. But if you say this people will say you hate "sonic's stupid friends" or smth lol.
here's the thing -- imo, the Sonic franchise has recently had a real problem with having Sonic's supporting cast continually reappear and hang around for NO GOOD REASON. I'm not sure why this is, but it's something I'm noticing . it's several characters, not just Silver (2/8).
