trust me, I get it. no one wants some random guy who doesn’t respect the source material to hop on and fuck up the adaptation but, I’d argue that Helldivers borrows heavily from already well-established sci-fi movies and literature and isn’t hard to “get”

I talk to Evan quite a bit. I can tell you that I, myself, have suggested to her to aim for more contained "open-and-shut" stories with strong themes seeing some of y'all automatically both assume that SEGA are the ones "forcing this" and that it's a bad thing is kinda odd. lol

shorter, self-contained stories are a very good fit for the Sonic comics, though. it's all in how you go about executing it genuinely not trying to toot my own horn and it definitely wasn't perfect, but Scrapnik Island was just four 20-page issues and told a full story
So SEGA is the reason why IDW Sonic has such rushed arcs to make them "easier to repackage"... why am I not surprised. As much as I have disliked how rushed almost every arc has been after Metal Virus, I do feel bad for Evan, Ian & the other writers to be honest.
