My acceptance speech last night was a pure mind blank moment, and I didn't say what I wanted, so just to add a huge thank you to everyone for their support. Books build empathy and we should shout from the roof tops about children's books. Hope, empathy, joy.

Reminded how I was being told by (white) publishing folk already in 2018 that “diversity as a trend is over.” There was never any commitment to change from publishing. Why would there be? Short🧵
