Couple of tips: - Make sure they're Hull-specific (e.g. chip spice rather than fish and chips). - There are a lot of clubs and organisations starting with 'Hull', so be a bit canny with your suggestions (e.g. Tigers rather than Hull City). Miranda van Rossum Hanna Lutkin /End

However, as we're currently at Stage 1, the question of the moment is: What would you like to see in an alphabet of Hull? Please leave your suggestions below - doesn't have to be the full alphabet of course, but the more letters you can cover, the better. 6/

We're aware that this is a fairly broad brush strokes description - if you're interested in participating and/or would like to find out more, please join FB Group An Alphabet of Hull or send me a DM. 5/

* STAGE 3: Displaying the alphabet (January - September 2026) Once completed, we aim to display the individual pieces in locations relevant to each piece, ideally on a permanent basis, thus creating an alphabet trail. 4/

* STAGE 2: Creating the alphabet (November 2025 - September 2026) Creating the designs for the individual pieces & stitching them. A few letters at a time, hence the long running time. In addition to working with groups, we also hope to organise public stitching sessions. 3/

* STAGE 1: Selecting the alphabet (September - October 2025) During this stage, we will be choosing our alphabet of Hull. We're looking for as much input as possible as to what people would like to see in an alphabet of Hull, and we'll make our final selection at end October 2/

Today’s bit for @CuriosityHull brings some context to debate on asylum seekers in Hull and elsewhere.
How Many Asylum Seekers Are Living In Hull? The population of our city is currently almost 290,000. Our international diaspora correspondent @angus_young61 does his homework and reveals the plain facts of the current immigration debate. https://t.co/SAjN9I7oH8

Having spoken to a few people, & having gauged enthusiasm for & feasibility of, it looks like I've got a new community project on my hands! Won't be launching it properly until after the summer hols, but will probably be contacting some of you beforehand to gauge interest. 1/

🚨 We’re shocked and disappointed. The UK government has pushed through HUGE cuts to Universal Credit for disabled people applying in the future. These cuts will be devastating. They risk pushing even more disabled people to food banks.

And the Universal Credit bill has passed. Some of the sickest people in the country will suffer needlessly more now. There is no justification, no excuse. Just ugly, cruel choices by ministers too cowardly to tax the wealthy rather than cut the poor. A shameful day for Labour.

The first of the cardoon flowers is out and already attracting loads of bees, as well as this rose chafer (not hugely clear in the photo). I'm particularly pleased about that, as we didn't get any of those in the last two years.
