Republicans have now cleaned up the Democrats' mess for them, not only doing their own jobs in their districts these last 43 days, but also what the Democrats should have been doing this whole time: working to reopen the government.

So, who was working during the shutdown? Definitely not the party that voted to withhold paychecks and food stamps from hardworking Americans. Definitely not the party that hid from their constituents in the halls of Congress, which is closed to the public during a shutdown.

While Republicans were doing that essential work, Democrats were hiding from their constituents in DC, filming TikTok videos and staging political stunts around our nation's capital. None of those actions did a damn thing to help constituents or reopen the government.

On top of all this... with nothing to vote on in the House, there is no "work" for Members of Congress to be doing in DC. After Democrats shut the government down, Republicans were in their districts helping constituents who were directly impacted by the Democrats' shutdown.

But if we're being honest, if the only thing Democrats can come up with to message about the shutdown is accusing the GOP of being on vacation, they lost this fight a long time ago.

This talking point from Democrats undermines the incredibly important work that happens at home: advocating for constituents w/ federal agencies like Social Security, the IRS & VA, meeting with local businesses, helping students, answering questions from constituents, & more.

The work that happens when a Member is home in their district is just as - if not more - valuable than their presence in DC to vote on bills, especially since that work is generally more effective and successful than writing messaging bills that will never see the light of day.

I've heard a lot of Democrats accuse Republicans of being "on vacation" during their shutdown. Not only is this false, it's everything that Americans hate about the "swamp". The premise that the only valuable work Members of Congress do is in DC is laughable.

Denying paychecks to troops, air traffic controllers, federal employees is no way to govern. Chairman @TomColeOK04’s day-one message still rings true: shutdowns never achieve the objective. They only cause pain to the American people.
Later today, the House will vote to finally put an end to the Democrat Shutdown. I'm hopeful that my colleagues on the other side of the aisle will join the @HouseGOP in passing this commonsense funding bill to reopen our government and pay our troops, air traffic controllers,

Obamacare. It's literally called Obamacare.
Republicans have destroyed health care in our country. Millions will go without care, and people will die. Yet again, Republicans have shown their priorities begin and end with helping billionaires. Americans won't forget it the next time they go to the polls.

One of the many dumb things about this message is Democrats *specifically voted* for these Obamacare pandemic subsidies to expire this year. They set that cliff without a single Republican vote. If media were fair they would push back on that stupid line every single time.
For months, Trump & Republicans have refused to fix the health care crisis they created. And many of the federal workers they’ve fired now rely on the Affordable Care Act or Medicaid to get health care coverage. I’ll keep fighting for affordable health care for all Americans.

Every time a democrat says “welcome back”, they’re telling on themselves for hiding from their constituents after shutting the government down and taking their paychecks away

Before this started, @TomColeOK04 warned Democrats shutting down the government would be a mistake. Fighting over a clean, nonpartisan CR would cause undue hardship and fail to achieve anything at all. If only they listened to him...

I wish I had the confidence of a Democrat Member of Congress blatantly lying from the seat of our nation’s government, knowing that no one will fact check them.

Senate votes 60-40 to pass a bill to end the shutdown. Now it goes to the House for a final vote.

Dear Liberals: Every time you say that the Democrats "caved" on the shutdown, you admit that the Democrats were the reason why there was a shutdown. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
