Horrific. THOUSANDS of Ukrainian children have been taken by Russia - with many sent to re-education camps to replace their love of Ukraine with "a love of mother Russia" @JosepBorrellF, @vonderleyen & @eucopresident - Sanction the abductors. Bring Ukraine's Stolen Children home

'Toe' is one of those English words that once used N, not S, in the plural – in Old English, one toe is tā, two toes are tān. Tān was also an unrelated Old English word for 'twig, branch', and confusion between tān 'twig' and tān 'toes' is likely why English now has 'mistletoe'.

The damaged pages of this book have been mended with #frockingFabulous embroidery, possibly by the nuns at Vadstena Convent, where the book has been kept since 1417! Via Uppsala Universitet.

Independently found this article and was then very happily surprised that it's all due to the amazing Jess Hodgson, another supervisee of my PhD supervisor! 🤩🙌

Read all about it! Jess Hodgson's remarkable discovery of nearly invisible inscriptions made by a woman, Eadburg, in an 18thC Kent manuscript, has been picked up by The Guardian! @HyPIRUoL @NCanagarajah @MRC_Leicester @InsularMSS @bodleianlibs

Well, well, well, if it isn't the incredibly new idea of women's sexuality that I cover extensively in my upcoming book one more time, and I have time to self promote, so let's talk about why Stephen Fry is wrong, cuz a girl has books to sell.

In 19th century Europe, C-sections were performed only in direst need and maternal mortality was very high. At the same time in Africa, indigenous people were performing the operation successfully saving both. Have a #BlackHistoryMonth thread on Banyoro obstetric surgery.

If you can, stay somewhere cool and shady, such as an underwater lake in the middle of the mountains: Gollum here in the Tove Jansson illustrated edition of the Hobbit is ticking ALL the boxes, plus he's wearing a sunhat (sort of) https://t.co/tf73Nu3eh0
