I'm winding down on here and ramping up on @bluesky ( https://t.co/z1zVzixRvw). I cannot continue to fuel Elon Musk's platform that actively promotes hatred and misinformation, and what is now a personal political tool to directly enable and fund Trump. Was great while it lasted.

One minute of rush hour on Bloor in -10C weather on January 7th. 7 bikes and a skateboard using the bike lanes, 11 cars. 2 of which are blocking pedestrian crosswalks and causing gridlock.

Imagine e-bike riders using TTC putting in their batteries for charging in stations like Kennedy and then getting off at a downtown station and picking up their fully charged batteries. No risk of fires onboard subways. Seems more equitable.

Ridership on Toronto's Bike Share system reaches new heights, with 7 million rides for the year! This 23% increase from last year is due in part to the expansion of the system, but also additional safe infrastructure. Toronto is a cycling city!

Why can’t Toronto have nice things? Ask the people who won’t let neighbourhoods have corner stores
thestar.com
Instead of trying corners stores in neighbourhoods and seeing what happens, councillors have sent the proposal back for more consultation.

Over 19,000 comments were received by provincial govt about Bike Lane Removal Framework in Bill 212. It appears there weren't many -- or even any --- in favour. #biketo

JOURNALISM 101 RULE: If someone says it’s raining, and another person says it’s dry, it’s not your job to quote them both. Your job is to look out of the fucking window and find out which is true. — Now more than ever.

StatCan this morning reports big jump in unemployment in Fordlandia, up 0.8 pts to 7.8% How long will media play along with Doug’s bikes and booze distractions and give light coverage to failures on housing, health care, energy and big public projects?

@TomPark1n It really feels like we have more of a Ford problem than a Trudeau problem. Our unemployment is up; Ontario is almost single-handedly responsible for the housing crisis. It’s all Ford.

Add this to the already huge pile of "reasons I'm barely using Twitter anymore." (...and doing most of my posting on the other place.) To continue to use Twitter is to continue to empower Elon Musk and Trump.
NEW: Elon Musk poured more than $20 million into a mysterious super PAC at the end of the 2024 campaign, part of more than $250 million he spent overall to boost President-elect Donald Trump, new campaign finance reports show.

Removing bike lanes is not a solution for congestion in Toronto, and the province knows it. #FooledByFord
Data from the City of Toronto showed construction work is behind 47 per cent of road closings; in second place are utility repairs at 38 per cent. (Please don't take away CafeTO I'm begging you... it was the one good thing from the pandemic.) ( https://t.co/hlldNZiypp

@fordnation @PrabSarkaria The lanes on University, which @fordnation likes to cite as "causing congestion for ambulances", were designed with the hospitals to be used by ambulances, specifically.

This video is for @fordnation, @PrabSarkaria and all others saying bike lanes "stop emerg. vehicles from getting to their destination". They *allow* emergency vehicles to get to their destination, as seen here on Adelaide. They were designed with emergency services in mind.

The Doug Ford government’s willingness to admit a mistake has never caused them to pause and think before steamrolling forward into the next big blunder.

Remember how Air Canada used to be a public, government owned company and then they went private and now everyone is complaining about how damn expensive it is to fly in Canada? Yeah, don’t let the same thing happen to Canada Post.
