Another fun launch this week — we've made it way, way easier to add local MCP servers through a one-click install process and a new open-source file format we call DXT.
We've simplified local MCP usage by creating something new we call Desktop Extensions (.dxt files). These package your local server, handle dependencies, and provide secure configuration so you can one-click share and install local servers on Claude Desktop and other apps.

One of our top feature requests! I've used this to work with very large knowledge bases in my Projects and it's very handy.
Projects on Claude now support 10x more content. When you add files beyond the existing threshold, Claude switches to a new retrieval mode to expand the functional context.
