"I have a plastic bag full of plastic bags. I keep them because I might need them. I never need them.". That's what most backlogs look like.

Ha! I just saw that new Omarchy screensaver in action. Old school cool.

I've added a custom slash command to Claude Code called /pair with these instructions : . "Don't code yet. Let's discuss an approach together first. Only when I give the go ahead to build, you can start coding.". It prevents Claude from jumping into elaborate-yet-wrong solutions.

Today, after years of not touching Windows, I fixed some issues on my mother's laptop. How can an OS get so terrible? How did we go from workhorses like Windows 98/2000 to Windows Stores and ads in the start menu?. What happened?.

There was some trouble getting JetBrains IDEs to play nicely with Hyprland, but now that that's fixed Omarchy is the ideal developer environment.

Programmers enjoy that feeling of understanding how the bits flow. That's what makes bugs so fascinating: there is an edge case we don't understand yet. I suspect its also the reason why aggressively vibe coding doesn't feel good : it works, but we don't fully understand why.

Battery life on my 2015 MacBook on Omarchy isn't too great. I'm guessing that's because of the decade-old battery. How many hours of operation can I expect on a new @FrameworkPuter laptop?.

After a few hours of playing with Omarchy, I'm very charmed by how gorgeous, snappy and dev-centric it is. My 10-year-old Macbook feels like a modern machine.

Finally got some free time to join the cult. Omarchy on a 2015 MacBook . The installation was a breeze. Let's see how this decade old machine holds up.

The release of GPT-5 has clearly shown that the hype is not real. If we haven't reached the plateau yet, we're getting close.

We can break #ChatControl from day one by open sourcing something in the style of Since they claim to only flag harmful content, this kind of encrypted messages will render the backdoor useless. #StopChatControl.

An interesting (and rather sad) trend, but when trying to stream GPT-5, it asks for verification through Persona. While I understand the need to fight fraud, giving your ID card to some company to use their LLM is not the future we want. This is only a requirement for GPT-5 📷

Hand-craft everything without AI tools, and you miss out on some real productivity benefits. Give the reins to Claude completely, and you'll build unmaintainable junk. Everything in software engineering is a trade-off, and AI is no exception.

I love these new LLM tools as much as the next guy, but the hype is over the top. No, AI won't take your job. No, you won't be left behind if your product doesn't have chat-with-PDF. Just keep doing your best work with better tools.

The OS says a lot about a developer's mindset. Linux: I want productivity and control. Mac: I want something that just works. Windows: I like escape rooms and inane puzzles.

AI tools, like all productivity tools, amplify the skills of those who wield them. If you don't know how to play guitar, a Stratocaster isn't going to make you Jimi Hendrix. If you don't know how to code, Cursor is not going to make you a dev.

Me: I think this performance issue can be fixed by adding a cache, no?. Senior dev: No! You are wrong! I'll implement another fix that doesn't use a cache. Claude Code: Yes! You are right! I'll implement another fix that doesn't use a cache.

Did it go as fast as I had hoped? No. Did it write high-quality code? No. Did it get 100% of the specs right? No. But did it build a working MVP overnight? . Not even close! What a mess. 2/2.

Last night, I gave Claude Code a detailed set of 10 PRDs to build a complete calendar-syncing app from scratch. I validated the results in the morning. 1/2.📷. Like.
