(1/7) at “Blockspace Futures Day,” hosted by @ETHGASofficial & @titanbuilderxyz, i talked about blob futures. we discussed how they could solve a core issue introduced by PeerDAS before exploring what features blob futures could offer to L2s and users.

happy day after friday the 13th! excited to share "On the future of the blob mempool" with @_julianma @fradamt. reconciling how the consensus and execution clients handle blobs is a vital unresolved question for scaling ethereum data. this doc continues that conversation. 🔗↴

i am thrilled to be matriculating at Princeton in the fall to pursue a PhD in computer science under the supervision of Professor Matt Weinberg! my work will be all-in on crypto, and i can't wait to receive formal training while conducting fundamental blockchain research.

it's so exciting to see the EF swing for the fences–this reflects a renewed focus and improves the protocol's long-term position!. the careful reader may have noticed that i'm no longer in the org chart. this is b/c, as many of you know, i'm leaving the EF to return to school📚.

4/4 this post is a bit math-foward, but we start slow and use lots of plots to help visualize things. hope it is a good read! 📖. here is the link once more:

3/4 further, we see that this is the exact value of c at which the overall protocol cost changes regimes from scaling linearly to logarithmically in c (right plot).

2/4 in fact, there exists a value where the protocol is indifferent between ~doing nothing~ (paying the outside option, which we denote by c) and incentivizing participation. this plot shows that the protocol cost is minimal in both cases at the circle and square markers.

1/4 this is my favorite plot from the post. section 4 builds up the intuition around it. we show that the protocol’s cost for attracting 50% participation (motivated by preventing a 51% attack in Proof-of-Work) is non-monotonic in the size of the prize they provide.
