I have a different take on this Marner stuff. He was leaving anyway. Leafs blew it by losing for nothing. Now the tampering stuff is an attempt to cover up their mistake. Acting like they are victims with major entitlement. Once again not popular but just how I feel.

This changes things a bit. Didn’t think he was getting replaced by anyone other than Bobby. If so, it opens the door to this being performance related as well.
Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment says it will launch a search for a new Raptors team president but adds that “Raptors front office leadership remains in place with (contract) extensions for key personnel including general manager Bobby Webster.”

There is financial and structural reasoning behind Shanahan and Masai not returning to their positions. Performance wise, you can make the case for Shanny anyway but with Masai I don’t think there’s any performance case to be made.

Initial reaction to timing of Masai news is that he must’ve already known this ahead of time and wanted to see the draft through before departing. I think that is more likely than this being a reactionary move made today. Once Shanahan was done there was no chance he was staying.
