Leafs offence has a lot of guys who, upon touching it, immediately want to make something happen, which does lead to chances, but also turnovers. Domi/Maccelli will force plays, Robertson/Tavares/McMann will shoot it immediately, really only Nylander/Knies play with the puck.

Leafs defence: Top-10 in limiting slot passes & shot totals have been lower, but give up 3rd-most rushes against, bottom-five in rebound chances, 22nd in slot/inner slot shots against. D-corps (and team) too veteran to give up so many rushes and rebounds, gotta help keeper out.

According to early data, Leafs offence: Top-10 in slot passes & shots & inner slot shots. 2nd most rush chances in NHL. Butttt poor zone time, worst cycle chances, 3rd-worst in rebound chances. Feels like w/ their size those could flip (less rushes & better cycle play?) w/ time.

Gonna go ahead and follow this up to note that some other data I've seen does not match the above, so grain of salt, small sample, yada yada. But also gonna go ahead and double down on "shinny hockey" though. Not too many stretches of clean consecutive passes (see: breakouts!)

By expected goals through 3 gms, the Leafs basically grade out like a team if they'd never been coached. Not to say they're NOT being coached, but it's just mayhem. 2nd most expected goals in league (per game). Only three teams allowing more xGF against/gm. Utter shinny hockey.

Always fun to poke around with the early season returns and see outlandish results through the first week. Biggest "wait what" has to be Florida at 3-1-0 yet Sam Bennett is somehow dash-8, with Kuch just behind him.

Matthews was all over it last game, Leafs need a W, Cowan playing with him and Knies, just bet Cowan to get a point at plus money. Gotta like his chances in that spot no?

This Kleven on Ottawa is an absolute player. Big development for the Sens IMO.
