Distinguishing authentic human-produced media from deepfakes or other algorithmically generated media is notoriously difficult. The C2PA standard provides confidence that supported classes of media are human-generated — when stated as such in metadata https://t.co/IlGarRcw0M

Sooner or later, every software engineering organization is faced with the task of trying to evaluate the productivity of their team and…
Technology companies which measure impact by easily-observable (and game-able) metrics like commit-count or lines-of-code mistakenly treat their software as an asset, rather than the liability it actually is. Their products and capabilities are the assets, not the code

The sad reality of all the 2.0-era bad takes on how simple it would be to “fix” or “rebuild” Twitter is that they are wholly under-appreciating the challenges and complexity of this system at scale. If it looks like a simple app as a user, that is because the UX does a good job.

Given a pending crisis in coming years over creative authenticity, I wonder if a market will develop for tools or technology which differentiate human-generated original material. For example, cameras which digitally sign the photo and provide cloud APIs for verification, etc

We know that Covid misinfo contributed to 300k+ preventable deaths just in the US this year, in part due to inadequate handling by social networks. So to pretend that lives aren’t regularly at stake by the choices these platforms make is just ignorant https://t.co/TfmV9Y07Rm

As the U.S. nears one million deaths from COVID-19, analysis finds nearly a third of those deaths could have been prevented — if people had been vaccinated.

A cursory read through any articles demonstrating the link between social media usage and teenage depression and suicide, the influence it has on violent national movements, and why networks ban doxxing would have prevented this bad tweet
In both those companies, people die if the software doesn't work right. Do you really think he's not up to managing a social network?

It’s hard for people on the outside to appreciate how nonsensical this selective “policy” enforcement is. The team responsible for the serving of 10MM+ tweets / second for internal and user-facing use cases is down to like 2 people. Good luck shipping basically… anything?
