Recently, a lot of people have asked me about my thoughts on AI 2027. I finally finished reading it. Here’s what I think. tldr; phenomenal read, brings up a lot of relevant considerations, but makes several strong assumptions about development timelines and progress.

i’m significantly more proud of my substack than my X, of literature than scientific progress, and of deriving meaning and understanding through random philosophical conversations than committing myself to the grind. but sadly, it’s something most techbros won’t understand.

you don’t have to be an “influencer” entrepreneur or sell your dignity and soul to bring in revenue. marketing can be clever, creative, and simple. just look at delve.

Yday I showed an old man behind a ticket counter my student ID for a discount. He asked me what I was studying and without thinking - maybe I was imagining the standard SF “what are you working on” question? - l said multimodal AI instead of math/CS. 💀. …oops.

My honest reaction to what startup culture is becoming and the dangers it poses. Speed doesn’t justify ignorance. Execution doesn’t nullify learning. Being well-rounded is hugely underrated. The pursuit of knowledge and innovation should not be diverging paths.

the art of solo dining needs to be studied.

knowledge for the sake of logic means learning something not because it leads to a desired endpoint (makes you $, builds a product, etc.) but because it will develop a strong sense of intuition and general background, so that you can go on to build something truly incredible.

Sunday morning cafe hopping 🍵 . Self-studied SystemVerilog (took notes), got distracted by a control theory video, and then architected a PID controller in RTL on the back of a napkin (forgot a notebook). Shoutout to the UW girl and the middle-aged asian man who lent me pens 🙏

what i’ve gotten out of big tech this week:.- 13 coffees.- insane perks/benefits to loophole.- since i work 2x as fast as the average intern, i’m basically just paid to finish up my work and then read papers on AI safety & chip design. not a bad deal. (def never coming back tho)
