Our results are in line with multi-causality: multiple different disruptions (such as pathological network and ion channel changes) are separately sufficient but no single particular disruption is necessary for neuronal hyperexcitability. (4/4).

Possible scenario 1: enhanced excitation/inhibition (E/I) ratio.Possible scenario 2: alteration of intrinsic ion channels (IAHP down-regulated; INap, INa, ICaT up-regulated) in addition to enhanced E/I .Possible scenario 3: burst hyperactivity of the surrounding network (3/4).

Dendritic degeneration alone can change the pyramidal cells (PCs) responses to layer-specific input but additional pathomechanistic scenarios are required to explain neuronal hyperexcitability - especially increased bursting - in APP/PS1 mice as follows: (2/4).

Our paper on dendritic constancy has been published at @NeuroCellPress. It is abundantly clear that dendritic trees shape the computations that neurons perform. But here we show an input-output relation that is largely independent of dendritic length and branching.
