I will be presenting similar research at the upcoming NZPopCon in July. Using SNZ's IDI we examine internal migration using both demographic and economic data.
Next we have Guanyu Zheng talking about the effects of house prices on worker mobility between regions in New Zealand, which he analyses using a gravity model. He finds higher house prices have a significant negative effect on in-migration. Smoking gun productivity channel here.

They re-estimate demand every few years so it's not set in stone once they do.

Councils already test for 30 years growth (including a margin on top to allow for greater than expected growth). Of course it's extremely difficult to say what demand will be in 30 years, but forecasts like this ate still useful even if they aren't exactly correct. Additionally. .

Nice article here. A few thoughts. The whole 'cube' thing doesn't quite ring true. While councils do estimate 'plan enabled capacity' (I.e a cube) they also estimate a realistic capacity and a financially feasible capacity.
Stuff let me write 4000 words on the options Chris Bishop has to somehow replace the MDRS, the massive housing measure he was a fan of but is now repealing.

I was getting quietly confident in the all blacks quarter final chances, we seemed focused and itching to get at them. But now I am starting to worry that confidence is misplaced. It always used to be that if the ABs showed up and played well we would win.
